TRAINING & ORIENTATION

Paul-André is a graduate of Naropa University, Teacher's College/Columbia University, and Bank Street College of Education with specialized training in counseling, major mental illness, expressive art therapies, mindfulness, learning differences, IDEA/Section 504, school leadership/culture, and more. Paul-André has served on the faculty of Mercy College and a number of both public and private educational institutions for over 25 years.  Having obtained a Master of Arts in Transpersonal Psychotherapy his approach is rooted in humanistic/positive psychology with a keen ability to hold space beyond a client's individual circumstances, honoring the person they are evolving into and supporting them as they usher in long awaited dreams. He believes addressing the personal is much like seeing the top of an iceberg, our conscious minds processes limited information in isolation unless we challenge ourselves to begin to see 'what lies beneath?'

Paul-André offers his clients unparalleled access to a blend of both experiential and cognitive therapies successfully bringing together both Western and Eastern forms of psychological and philosophical thinking.  Experiential psychotherapy creates space for change by using awareness in the present moment to identify areas for possible growth and development.  It also allows clients to access/process difficult or overwhelming experiences, thoughts, memories, and emotions.  Paul-André believes that accessing a variety of augmentative therapies, determined by client need, dramatically improves client outcomes.  Having worked in the field of education and counseling for almost 30 years, Paul-André makes use of his observational skills coupled with a wide array of both educational and counseling skills to support his client's growth and transformation.  To this end, he accesses an eclectic mix of evidenced-based therapeutic interventions including but not limited to:

  • Compassion-focused (CFT)

  • Behavioral (ABA, CBT, DBT)

  • Solution Focused

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Reality

  • Schema

  • Systems

  • Gestalt

  • Narrative

  • Expressive (art, music, drama)

  • Mindfulness-based cognitive (MBCT)

  • Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR)

In his efforts to design and implement interventions that create lasting transformational change for his clients, Paul-André collaborates with a number of professionals from Certified Addictions Counselors to Wilderness, Art, and Somatic Therapists.
